OUR MISSION

We craft unforgettable tabletop experiences for groups of all ages and dispositions. We believe anyone can have fun playing games and that something special happens when a group huddles around a table to go on an adventure. Overly complicated game mechanics can create friction for new and casual players. We believe games are a powerful medium to bring people together, and that games don't need to be complex to be fun.

HISTORY OF DARK PORT GAMES

Pirates Dragons Treasure was first imagined over 10 years ago by Luke Plikaitis. In 2019 he and Caleb Bieranowski discovered their common passion for pirates, dragons, and tabletop boardgames on a flight over the Atlantic ocean. After a few hours (and a bottle of rum), the initial vision for a tabletop card game called Pirates Dragons Treasure was born. We refined the mechanics and gameplay over the next two years, then partnered with Gabriel Mastracci to create the original illustrations that helped bring the world of PDT to life.

After three years of refinement, design, and illustration, PDT launched on Kickstarter in May 2022. It funded in just under 90 minutes and our campaign ended up raising over 600% of our funding goal. Kickstarter backer fulfillments shipped in November 2022, and the game has since been available for general sale through www.pdtgame.com and an expanding network of retail partners.

Luke, Caleb & Gabriel aimed to make a game that fits their lifestyle. We are social beasts surrounded by gamers and non-gamers of all types. We had a vision for a game you can take and play anywhere, that keeps the energy level high thanks to game & group interactions, as well as occasional misbehavior - we are playing as pirates after all. We also wanted a game that was easy to learn-to-play with mechanics that make it enjoyable for almost anyone – and of course, it needed to scratch that fantasy itch with loads of awesome dragons.

Since release, Pirates Dragons Treasure has received high praise from players being described as “great for people who love games and for roping in friends turned off by complicated mechanics and dense rulebooks”, as well as “lots of fun at parties or just hanging with a couple buddies”.

PDT represents the passions of the team. As a result, the game helps fill a gap in the market that many customers are looking for. As a fun, lightweight swashbuckling adventure, it’s easy to learn and introduce to new players. Bring it with you and get your crew slaying dragons in just a few minutes!

Officially incorporated in July of 2022, we are an independent game studio designing and publishing tabletop games. We specialize in games designed from the ground up to be quick to learn, highly accessible and fun for a broad audience. Originally based out of Northern Virginia, our team now spans the Eastern Seaboard of the United States.
